Club members are in the wars
again! This time Mick Pepper crashed in the VTTA 25 on 5th April
that resulted in a splintered right elbow with the tricep tendon being torn off
together with severe bruising to his back. An operation to wire the joint
together and a week in
Three days later John Parkes
slipped on an oil spillage at Rendham and met Mick in Hospital, when he went
there to be X-rayed. Luckily no bones were broken but other damage meant that
his planned training camp in
Meanwhile on a more peaceful
note Ken and Maureen Nichols embarked on an anti-clockwise tour of the
Colin Kindred flew off to the sun and spent two weeks
cycling in
CTC
A cool dull start that improved as the day went on saw
nearly 30 riders tackle the course via Debenham, Earl Soham, Snape and
Sudbourne. Included in the field were
members Colin Clarke, fresh from his ride in the Stowmarket ‘20’ the previous
afternoon and Ken and Maureen.

VTTA (East Anglian Group) 25 – (E2/25B) – 5th APRIL
A cool breezy afternoon on the
sporting two lap course from Stetchworth saw
CC BRECKLAND 25 – (BS/2) – 13th
APRIL
It was left to the ladies to
represent the Club on two laps of the Scoulton circuit on a cool breezy but
sunny morning, in the event which incorporated the EDCA Circuit Championship.
Maureen recorded 1.32.08 while Olive Forsbrook did 1.41.56 and three male
members DNS. 2nd claim member Ted Saunderson rode for 1.13.58.
STOWMARKET & DCC 20 –
(BS33) – 19TH APRIL
A cool overcast afternoon with
a nagging east wind proved testing on the sporting two lap
Debenham, Ashfield Occold course. Andy Pearson led the Club group with an
excellent 52.37 backed by Paul Martin, obviously recovered from his illness,
56.37, Barry Lee 1.1.17, Roger 1.1.53 and Colin C 1.12.45. 2nd claim
members Tom Walker did 57.15 and Ted 59.48.
EAST ANGLIAN CC 25 – (B25/4) –
20TH APRIL
A drizzly version of the
previous afternoon’s conditions persisted with the east wind rising in the
riders’ face on the return trip along the A11 to Besthorpe where Bob returned
1.3.49 and John Tovell 1.6.30.
VTTA (East Anglian Group) 10 –
(B10/38) – 27TH APRIL
A dull but warm morning with a
light headwind on the longer leg to the turn on the A14 Rougham to Woolpit
course saw four members riding. John Coles recorded 25.58, brother Ged 27.00,
Ken Nichols 29.55 and Maureen 31.49. Ken and Maureen’s rides gained them their
Vets standard medals. Ted also rode and did 28.02. It was interesting to note
that as many Club members helped in the event as rode it.
