MEMBERS

Another short update on the condition of our casualty list:

John T is still receiving physio treatment for his hand and ankle but otherwise is moving well but not on his bike yet.

Andy is still off work and his bike while undergoing physiotherapy, which has set him back a bit. Boredom and enforced inactivity can make life very tedious, so we wish him a steady recovery.

John P having had the ‘all clear’ after his angiogram is back to normal.

Meanwhile Mick’s angiogram showed a problem for which he underwent triple heart by-pass surgery on October 23rd. Mick was in hospital for seven days but it now home and on the way to recovery. We wish him all the best and a quick return to good health

COMMITTEE MEETING - 6TH OCTOBER

NEW MEMBERS

This month we welcome two new members. John Thorogood, an ex member of the Club has joined 2nd Claim and although living in Ely is keen to be involved with the Club again. Secondly, juvenile Finn Nichols, Ken and Maureen’s grandson, joins and is our youngest member.

CTC SUFFOLK ROUGHSTUFF ‘25’ – 12TH OCTOBER

Undoubtedly helped by the wide publicity the event had last year, 170 riders presented themselves at Butley Village Hall on an initially misty but fine morning. Colin C and Ken were the Club’s participants, while Maureen aided with the marshalling.

The CTC Suffolk Coastal Byways 100km Audax held the previous weekend contained no Wolsey riders, probably for the first time. Maureen and Ken were in the marshalling team.

ICA LEAGUE

Although no Wolsey members completed the whole series of events, of those who did ride for points Andy Pearson was 48th, Paul Martin 54th,Colin Clarke 67th, Olive 73rd and Roger Selmes 93rd. The ICA is also appealing for more timekeepers; anyone interested in learning the ropes should contact Colin Kindred for details.

RACING NEWS

NORWICH ABC ‘10’ – (B10/44) – 4TH OCTOBER

As far as the racing season is concerned, summer ended the previous weekend, because although the early morning frost soon cleared there remained a cold head wind to the turn in this afternoon event at Earsham, which was reflected in the riders times. John Coles was again our fastest with 25.56 followed by brother Ged 27.11 and Roger Selmes 28.32. Ted Saunderson managed to match Ged’s time exactly.

NORWICH ABC ‘25’ –(B25/24C) – 5TH OCTOBER

The season ended on a damp squib with the event being cancelled because of heavy rain and high wind.

CC SUDBURY HILL CLIMB –(BHC/1) – 2ND NOVEMBER

Barry Lee was our only rider in the Hill Climb held at Semer on a rather grey dismal morning. After heavy rain the previous day the roads were very wet but it stayed dry for the large field of 36 riders. Due to a faulty watch the first few riders had to start again at the end of the field that meant a cool wait for their second ride of the day.
