      COMMITTEE MEETING - 1ST MARCH
q Apologies Colin C, John C and Mark
q It was confirmed the Tower Street room has been booked for 13th September and 15th November.
q The second ECCA event at which we are required to marshal is the "10"on 17th June
Course E7 for which John P and Mick volunteered. Jim and Bob have offered to do E2 "10"on 17th March.
q Richard Coe - proposed Mauireen, seconded Ken was confirmed as a 1st claim member.
q Details of the Headway Charity Ride between Bury St Edmunds and Kesgrave have been received.
q The address in the handbook for the organiser of Plomesgate 10 on 27th Match is wrong and is 2 White Lodge Gardens, Windrush Road, Kesgrave, IP5 2NQ.
q University College Suffolk (UCS) is holding athletic testing sessions on 13th March - Maureen has details.
q The Ipswich BC 10 on 10th July was chosen as the Club Ladies and Junior Trophy event. The Club Hillclimb will be the CC Sudbury event on 7th November.
q Initial thoughts on recognising the 50th Anniversary of the Club are for a 50km ride to lunch probably at Barham "Sorrell Horse."
q The rule for awarding the Road Race Trophy was discussed. It is appreciated the road race scene has changed vastly since the rule was framed but it was felt the points system should remain and age groups in LVRC should count as separate events. A form of wording could be considered at the next meeting.
q Various aspects of the Open 25 were discussed. The matter of whether having a rear light as a recommendation or rule will be clarified in the promoter's pack. It is noted the course number in the national handbook is wrongly given a suffix (a) which is a matter John will take up with the District Committee.
q Date of next meetings - 8th April and 3rd May.
THE SUFFOLK HEADWAY RIDE 17TH APRIL
This organisation which treats people who have suffered head trauma and whose clinic at Kesgrave Andy Pearson attended after his crash, is holding its annual charity ride between Bury St Edmund and Kesgrave. Entry Fee is £10 which can be donated to the charity instead of obtaining sponsorship if you wish and participants can cycle in either or both directions. Maureen has details and entry forms.

CLUB LUNCH AND PRIZE PRESENTATION - 7TH FEBRUARY
Congratulations and thanks to Maureen and Ken together with all helpers for organising another excellent occasion at the Holiday Inn Ipswich which was combined with the CTC Suffolk event and attracted 68 members and friends.
Awards were presented by Mick Gambling CC Breckland who preceded that, by entertaining us with en excellent speech that covered the activites and members of both clubs and to which Peter Ling replied for the Clubs.
One feature of the awards ceremony was a presentation to Olive in recognition of her serving as the Club President for 25 years.
This year it was rewarding to see that all ClubTrophy winners were able to collect their awards.
      MEMBERS' NEWS
q On an initially cold morning John Parkes was our sole represenatuve in the Stowmarket & D CC Reliability Trial on 14th February. John chose the 70km option of an anticlockwise loop from the Needham Market HQ via Stowmarket, Hadleigh , Brantham and Somersham.
q Our participants doubled in the Ipswich BC Trial a week later when John was joined by Ged Coles on a cold, wet and miserable morning at Playford. They both chose the 70 km loop taking in Hollesley, Saxmundham, Framlingham and Clopton before their ride home from the HQ. Two other members came to the start and felt they made the right decision to stay there.
q Andy Pearson's skiing holiday in Austria resulted in three days skiing and much of the rest of the time in doctor's and hospital waiting rooms after he broke his left shoulder in a fall on the way back to the hotel. A visit to Ipswich A & E produced a sick note for six weeks and a packet of frustration.
