Now that it is properly 2009 – a Happy New Year to you all.

Enclosed is a new issue of Club Records, which is dated January 2009 and replaces all earlier issues.

CLUB DINNER

It is not too late to book for the Club Dinner – that is if you hurry. Details as in December Newsletter. Any donations of prizes for the raffle to be held at the Dinner would be appreciated.

CLUB SUBSCRIPTIONS

A reminder that Club subs are due on 1st January but please remember that the Club Treasurer is Colin Clarke to whom cheques payable to Wolsey Road Club should be sent at 336 Felixstowe Road, Ipswich, IP3 9AA. Seniors £10.00. Under 18 and 2nd Claim £5.00

Congratulations to Tom Walker and Sarah on the birth of baby Kate on December 6th.

CLUB TIME STANDARDS

Colin Kindred Tel; 01473 463009 is now taking entries for Club Time Standards for the current year.

60p per distance covers all rides after you have entered and gains a certificate for beating the times set out in the Rule Book. At the end of the season you have the choice top pay an extra £2 per standard gained and have a medal instead of a certificate. If you gain three or more standards you can opt for a plaque instead of medals.

 

COMMITTEE MEETING - 13th JANUARY

EAST DISTRICT CA AND SPOCO (EAST) PRIZE PRESENTATION – 18th JANUARY

John’s Coles and Tovell and Mick Pepper were among the crowd of club people at the presentation and lunch at Carbrooke Village Hall, where, in the season long Sporting Courses Competition Olive Forsbrook gained 3rd place in the Ladies Competition and Colin Clarke and Roger Selmes achieved a Competition qualifying medal.

Amongst the EDCA award winners were John T, 2nd Vet on Standard in the Group 30 and 3rd Vet on Standard in both the 10 and 15. Maureen Nichols was 2nd lady in the 25, Olive 3rd lady in the Circuit 25 and John Stow achieved 3rd handicap in the 15.

SPOCO (EAST) COMPETITION 2009

The programme of selected events for this year’s competition has been released which shows that the format has changed to exclude the longer distances and make it a medium distance competition with events in two groups.

300,000 MILES CLUB

Mick’s disastrous 2008 resulted in him recording his lowest ever annual mileage at 4,439 last year. Nevertheless he moved up two places in the current overall table to 28th out of 69 qualifiers.
